We’re excited to announce that we’ve been invited to work alongside the Leeds council's new initiative ‘Year of Reading’ which aims to raise the profile of reading across Leeds and in particular to engage children and their families in positive reading activity to generate a long term love of reading.
Leeds wants to become a city of reading, where story and books are valued and an integral part of everyone’s lives. There will be a year of activities related to reading and enjoying stories which will hopefully spark a love for ongoing and continuous reading in the city.
Excitingly we helped launch the Year of Reading at Shakespeare Primary School last week whereby we took one of our incredible shows, Topsy Turvy Storybook, which takes the children on a journey with the Storybird to the Storybook Kingdom, where a wicked wizard is determined to put an end to all the Happy Ever Afters!
They also teamed up with Book Trust, who are suppling children across the city with free books!
We will be popping up throughout Leeds over the coming year to support Leeds Council their objective to engage children and their families in positive reading activities to generate a long term love of reading.
Follow the year of reading on twitter @LeedsYOR and use the hashtag #Leedslovesreading if you want to get involved.
