Here at the Rainbow Factory we have recently started to work with a fantastic charity known as OWLS (a branch of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal). The acronym stands for Overcoming Worry, Loss & Sadness which describes exactly the service it offers - a child bereavement service for children aged 4 - 11. They offer services such as practical and emotional support, direct 1-2-1 therapy, schools workshops and peer activity days. We were very inspired by the wonderful work that OWLS have accomplished and we wanted to find a way that we could help too - and we did! We started by offering storytelling at the Welly Walk which took place last Sunday (10th November) - it was a great fundraiser which got families and children outside to raise money with plenty of activities around the course. We're also hosting one of their peer activity days this weekend where families can come and enjoy some of the Rainbow Factory magic whilst also having the support of one another. It's a great opportunity for affected children and their families can get together to share experiences and support each other.
